i dont understand... why would wax be bad for new car and good for old car?
we suppose to wax it after every car wash. and extra layer of wax means extra layer of protection for ur paints, it doesnt eat up ur paints...

This is like some delivery boy told me you suppose to use old car do food delivery, but i think the opposite. New or old car, if it breaks, it'll be fixed at the same way and same cost. Rather, older car would even break more often which hinder's ur work.

PPG recomends waiting 11 weeks after manufacture date before sealing the paint to ensure proper curing.

thats true, depending on when the car was actually manufactured could effect when you should be doing stuff to the paint. Check inside your door and see when it was physically produced, i guess better safe than sorry, just keep it clean and you'll be fine. you shouldn't wax after washing anyway, just after detailing (claying, etc) cuz you're just grinding fallout and dirt into the paint and sealing over it.

I thought when the dealer sells you a brand new car, they would wash, wax, and polish it, dont they?

The wax they use is just a "spray on with a power washer" type and not a paint sealant. It just kinda sits on top and doesn't micro bond to the surface like Gold Class or anything. My car is coming up on a year old and I do not have 1 single paint swirl of any kind. My car was in the showroom at the dealer for about 6 weeks and was 13 weeks old when I brought it home.I have never washed it with a wash mitt. I power wash it and then use Showroom Shine to remove the left over film . I had 2 coats of wax before winter (November) but it needs more now. The wax lasts way longer washing it the way I do .I have suffered 2 stone chips on the hood but hey what do ya do .
Just my $.02 on paint care .

Ok correct as mentioned you need to let the paint cure and then are good to go.

As for the polish is better then wax, I did not expect that from you orange...

Polish and wax are 2 totally different products used for different purposes.

Yeah make sure you wax it once in awhile.. Not like my friend where he waxed his Sable almost 8 years later of purchase.. when waxed the paint came off like a powder here and there and some of the wax actually stayed on.. ;p

Yes ma'am . They do different things but most people are not aware of the differences. If I had to chose one of them I would chose polish/sealant over wax (hell I wouldn't even wax my car). Here is a thread taken from an Integra site. JNG is the detailing guru so his advise are pretty reliable.

Synthetic waxes, often called sealants, serve the same purpose as natural waxes. However, they are often formulated with superior durability. Most commonly, synthetic waxes contain polymers or acrylic compounds to create a sophisticated surface coating with exceptional gloss and slickness.

Just for kicks, heres a link detailing a Veyron.

You didn't read the info. Its the cleaners/protecters/polishes that makes it look nice and shiny/glossy. The wax "protects" it, although its like applying oil. Sealants ftw!

so i am guessing that you apply sealants using the same method as applying wax? by first rubbing it in and then letting sit... then rubbing it out in the same direction as originally applied? if so, that would be cool. Also I plan on using both sealant and wax, so which one would you reccommend applying first? sealant or wax? or vice versa? thanks

yep same method. you want to apply sealant first, then wax. since the wax will wear off faster than the sealant, and if you put the wax before the sealant, well, you get the idea

Yea, it applies the same way. Think of it as waxing the car twice. Sealant goes before wax. I don't wax so less steps for me.

I don't know whether local places have it or not, but I always use Klasse All-in-One and then top that with their Glaze. Best stuff in the world. =)
For you guys putting wax on top of your sealant, make sure your wax isn't a "cleaning wax" otherwise you're just partially undoing what you've spent time.... doing. =]
